So remember that post yesterday? Already an obstacle. One of the challenges with an old house is that you have to work with somewhat difficult layouts. Turning a closed-in kitchen to a ‘great room’ style kitchen is not easy. Anyways, the appliance placement has been a big headache for us so that we can open up the wall into the family room successfully. You lose a lot of wall space doing this and have to make-up for it in other places.
One option we now must consider is having a corner range. I suggested it on a whim (not really thinking) and now it seems like a good solution so the fridge can fit in the space we want it. This also means that the sink will have to go on the peninsula looking into the great room. (Can wash dishes and watch TV at the same time- cool, right?)
This wasn’t my first choice, but I looked on Houzz (how I love you Houzz…) and its seems there are some nice kitchens with ranges designed in the corner.
Still not 100% sold, but I really think this fixes our other issues.
